Building the Monogram A-26 Invader

Building the Monogram A-26 Invader

For this project ... I’ve chosen the Monogram A-26 ... It’s been on my to-do list since it was first issued decades ago ... now I’m well aware there’s a small vocal minority that just love to trash this kit at every opportunity .. and I’ll be the first to admit there are elements that suggest it wasn’t exactly done by the A-Team ... But .. at least for me .. it does incorporate the feel of an A-26 ...

When I think of an A-26 ... I see a light-weight simple streamlined design ... a relatively small, squarish fuselage sandwiched between two huge Pratt and Whitney 2800’s .. tied together with a long thin wing ... an attack bomber .. that could keep up with a fighter plane of its time ... and although it’s a great source of information to go to a museum and see one on the ground ... this is what I see when I think of an A-26 ...

Since I’m building towards that vision ... I’m building with gear up ... and using an unorthodox mixture of approaches dating back to my youth to keep things moving along so I don’t loose that vision.
